Inspired by the moral courage of Aristides de Sousa Mendes, this international seminar brings together public institutions, humanitarian organisations, researchers, educators, refugees and civil society to reflect on today’s refugee challenges and build concrete actions for the future together.
Two days of keynote talks, testimonies, workshops and encounter, in the very place where Sousa Mendes lived and from where his legacy continues to inspire the world.
Participation is free upon registration. Places are limited.
Inspirado pela coragem moral de Aristides de Sousa Mendes, este seminário internacional reúne instituições públicas, organizações humanitárias, investigadores, educadores, refugiados e representantes da sociedade civil para refletir sobre os atuais desafios relacionados com os refugiados e identificar ações concretas para o futuro.
Dois dias de intervenções de destaque, diálogo, workshops e reflexão partilhada, no próprio lugar onde Aristides de Sousa Mendes viveu e a partir do qualo seu legado continua a inspirar o mundo.

Saturday, 10 October — Opening ceremony, international keynote speakers and refugee testimonies on the current situation in Portugal and Europe, the official launch of the United Against Inhumanity Manifesto, a guided visit of the Museum, and an evening of reception, dinner and Fado.
Sunday, 11 October — Optional guided walk or Ciclovia ASM, working groups (politics, education and local action), presentation of recommendations and adoption of the Carregal do Sal Statement, and an optional afternoon with a documentary and a Zohra Orchestra concert.
Sábado, 10 de outubro — Cerimónia de abertura; intervenções de oradores internacionais sobre os atuais desafios dos refugiados em Portugal e na Europa; lançamento oficial em Portugal do Manifesto da United Against Inhumanity; visita guiada ao Museu Aristides de Sousa Mendes; receção, jantar e noite de Fado.
Domingo, 11 de outubro — Caminhada guiada opcional ou Ciclovia ASM; grupos de trabalho sobre políticas públicas e diálogo público, educação e transmissão da memória, e parcerias e ação local; apresentação das recomendações e adoção da Declaração de Cabanas de Viriato; reflexão de encerramento; visita guiada ao Museu; almoço; e concerto pelo Afghanistan National Institute of Music.
