Since April 2023, Sudan has been torn apart by a brutal war between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Millions have been killed, displaced, or starved, and entire communities now live under siege. Reports of widespread gender-based violence, famine, and the deliberate denial of aid reveal a conflict that has turned civilians into targets. Over twelve million people have been uprooted, hospitals have collapsed, and more than half of Sudan’s population now depends on humanitarian assistance to survive.
Despite the scale of this tragedy, international attention and aid have fallen drastically short. Mediation efforts remain fragmented, access for relief workers is blocked, and major donors have withdrawn support. Hunger is being used as a weapon of war, and the suffering of Sudan’s people deepens each day.
The UAI Task Team on Sudan works to raise awareness of this crisis and to demand political action that safeguards lives, rights, and dignity. We advocate for stronger international engagement, including the appointment of a High-Level Humanitarian Envoy to coordinate global efforts, secure aid access, and keep Sudan’s civilians at the center of the response.
This webpage serves as UAI’s platform for sharing statements, articles, reports, and expert analyses on the crisis. We invite policymakers, civil society, and all concerned individuals to connect with us, collaborate, and join our work to restore hope and humanity in Sudan.
